Supporting Our Children

The experiences of the past year and a half have been very difficult for many of our children. The regular routines children rely on have been seriously disrupted and many are currently facing feelings of anxiety, depression, and isolation. They may be exhibiting new behaviors or may be withdrawing or feeling anxious about starting school again. This workshop will help participants understand how stress impacts a young person's brain, identify some of the trends in youth mental health, and hear what experts teach and suggest when supporting children and teens during this crisis.

90 minutes

Vicarious Trauma, Toxic Stress & Burnout

Understand the neurobiology of vicarious traumatization, toxic stress and the impact of long-term exposure to cortisol over time. This workshop explores evidence-based strategies for recovery from toxic stress, including how to leverage the neuro-plasticity of the brain to heal, by examining vertical integration theories, understanding attachment and the leveraging the power of protected spaces.

90 minutes

Self-Care Strategies

This workshop explores different types of rest the body requires to feel well. Explore the repair strategies of the brain to support self-care that works (for example, micro-routines, parasympathetic nervous system activation and post-traumatic growth). The workshop includes a worksheet so participants walk away with a concrete plan for self-care based in neuroscience that doesn't require extensive economic time and resources.
