QPR Coming to Cypress!

Each year during September, the Cypress team joins so many communities in focusing on Suicide Prevention. I’m sure you’ve heard me brag about how we have had the top two Mental Health First Aid instructors in the state of CA for the last three years in a row. Hard to not be proud of the team for their accomplishment! Needless to say, I can guarantee that we remain committed to bringing MHFA training to folks as a way to prevent and manage mental health crises.

However, we also know that sometimes it can be difficult to find the time that MHFA training requires during our hectic lives. Many times clients have reached out needing to talk about suicide but they are struggling to find the organizational time to train their teams. We know the need is there, so we are responding.

This year to honor Suicide Prevention month – the Cypress team is proud to announce that we are adding QPR training to our available services. QPR training (stands for Question, Persuade, Refer) is just one more valuable resource for those supporting anyone who may be at risk for suicide. QPR helps us identify warning signs of suicide, and teaches how to manage that crisis to refer the person to professional support.

We all need different tools in our tool kits to help someone we know who is experiencing a mental health challenge. QPR is going to be one more training that hones our skills to potentially save a life.

We’ll be rolling out our QPR courses in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes out. We hope to see you in a class soon.

If you are currently in crisis and having thoughts of suicide, please call, text or chat 988. A trained crisis counselor is there 24/7 to help (Press 0 to be connected immediately, Press 1 to connect to the Veteran’s line, Press 2 for help in Spanish, Press 3 for LGBTQI+ youth and young adults).
