Self-Care Corner: Letting the New Year "Unfold"

New years are LIFE. They’re full of possibility, which is exciting and hopeful… and, if I’m honest, sometimes a fast track to burnout. The moment the calendar flips, social media fills up with advice about what we should plan for, let go of, fix, or completely reinvent by 2026. Before I realize it, I’ve piled way too much pressure on myself, trying to wring every ounce of potential out of the year—only to feel exhausted before we’re even through the first quarter.

So this year, I’m trying something different.

There are no resolutions. I’m letting the year unfold.

Full disclosure: I’m a Capricorn. “Letting things unfold” is not my natural state. A to-do list—with sub-bullets—is my idea of peace. But I’m curious about what might happen if I loosen my grip just a little. Without rigid expectations, everything doesn’t have to be perfect to be okay. The pressure eases. The urgency softens. At least, that’s the hope.

What I really want is space—space to learn something new about myself and to make life feel a bit lighter, without the constant noise of who I should be or what I should be chasing in the year ahead.
