Mental Health First Aid

MHFA Overview (Virtual Training)

In this workshop, we will provide a high level overview of Mental Health First Aid, what it is, and how it is applied to provide support to individuals who may be experiencing the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.

This workshop does not count toward MHFA certification.

MHFA Adult Certification

2-hour independent online module + 5-hour instructor led training

  • Learn the common signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance use disorders and build skills to manage a mental or behavioral health crisis or emergency.

  • Upon completion of the training, quiz, and evaluation, participants receive a 3-year MHFA certification conferred by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

YMHFA for Adults Assisting Youth

Certification

2-hour independent online module + 5-hour instructor led training

  • Youth Mental Health First Aid is for adults assisting children and youth.

  • Learn how to identify the onset of a mental health challenge as well as the common signs and symptoms of mental illness for a young person. This training includes building skills to help a young person manage a mental or behavioral health crisis or emergency. 

  • Upon completion of the training, quiz, and evaluation, participants receive a 3-year MHFA certification conferred by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

tMHFA for Teens Supporting Peers Certification

tMHFA is a series of workshops that teaches teens to support peers who may be experiencing signs and symptoms of mental health or substance use challenges. These trainings are done in partnership with schools and school districts. Please contact us for details.

Understanding Grief

Grief Recovery Overview

90 minutes; contact us to schedule

In this workshop, we will provide a high level overview of The Grief Recovery Method, an evidence-based program to help individuals heal from the pain of loss. We will differentiate between grief and bereavement, and discuss the different kinds of losses that can cause emotional pain. In addition, participants will learn about the physical impacts of grief, what to say / not to say to a griever, and discuss specific strategies for recovery.

Supportive Friend

Learn to use trauma-informed approaches to improve your capacity to help the individuals you serve. This set of four trainings can be completed as a series or separately depending on your needs.

Helping Hands
